If you’ve seen the designs from her eponymous shoe line, you already know that Rebecca Allen has an affinity for minimalism and versatility. The collection offers a classic pump, flat and sandal, each offered in a range of five shades of nude — ideal silhouettes and hues that could be worn by anyone with anything.
The founder’s aesthetic isn’t limited to her shoe designs, often gravitating to functional yet stylish items for the home. As she renovates her Brooklyn apartment, Rebecca has shared with Carte on what’s loving lately — from her table linens and ceramics to the products she’s using to cut back on single use plastic.
“I worked in finance for years and I was always looking for a timeless nude pump for my work wardrobe. All of the white women in my office wore the same heel that went with everything. But that white nude looked ridiculous on me as a black woman. So, I set about coming up with a classic pump in five different nude shades. Then, we continued to think about where that customer goes in her day. We’ve created this very edited, timeless collection of shoes in the five shades of nude. We exist to support all women doing their best work.
We just launched a program where women can join our community and become a fit expert to sell with us and earn commission. Women in our network are hosting virtual events and bringing people together. Everybody who has signed up is working toward something bigger - whether it's school, staying in the game after you put your kids to bed or just being on that side hustle. For women, being able to work flexibly and remotely should be easy and yet it still can be such a hurdle. We're trying to just give more paths to supplemental income and support our community along the way. Our company is all about supporting our woman across all of the different facets of her life to uplift her and make life easier.
