Gift Guide — Decor Objects
This year has been one of the toughest for artists and small businesses - offering support, even in small ways, makes a big difference. As 2020 has brought everything except what we expected, why not also give something a little unexpected this holiday season.
The art of giving can sometimes be as simple and inspiring as giving art - both functional and decorative. Here are a handful of our favorite unique gift ideas that are sure to make anyone’s heart warm and coffee table shine.
simone bodmer turner Vessels
Brooklyn-based artist Simone Bodmer Turner creates ceramic sculptures and vessels in neutral, biomorphic silhouettes. Intended for Ikebana style floral arranging, candles or to stand on their own, Turner draws inspiration from time spent in Mexico and Japan, ancient clay hand building techniques and architecture. The organic form and everyday function of these handmade ceramics make coveted works of art for the home.
Of our our favorites is the Bridge Handled Vessel, which is inspired by the bulbous belly and connecting arch that is commonly found in Pre-Columbian and Etruscan water vessels to act as a handle for easy carrying. There are two shape iterations to make a pair, or stands on their own.
The sculptures are made of cast white stoneware, black underglaze, slightly textured matte black glaze with olive oil to finish.
